Viktoria Schmid (born in Austria in 1986) works in various media, including photography, sculpture, and film. She explores historical color film processes and uses the emptiness of the screen as a surface for projections of light and shadow. In doing so, she examines the potential of representing landscape and nature, references the historical development of cinema, and experiments with formats. In 2023, she won the Austrian Short Film Award at VIENNA SHORTS. In this year’s portrait program, the artist will present her films as part of a carte blanche program, creating a dialogue with works by like-minded filmmakers. The programm takes place in cooperation with the Austrian Film Museum and sixpackfilm.
