DANIEL LERCHER AND MONZA BLITZ LIVE

DANIEL LERCHER AND MONZA BLITZ LIVE

At this year’s festival, we will once again go beyond the screen with audiovisual performances by Daniel Lercher and Monza Blitz at METRO Kinokulturhaus on May 28. Inspired by the concept of Expanded Cinema developed in the 1960s and 1970s, this is not least about an expansion of the concept of film and a reflection of the medium on an aesthetic, technical, material or consciousness level.

Daniel Lercher: Lisa 3

In this performance, Daniel Lercher works with the projection of a digital oscilloscope, through which so-called Lissajous figures and other visualizations of the sound level are displayed. The geometric figures are generated from the sound level by superimposing different oscillation forms on two axes (x,y). The sounds come from the laptop and range from simple sine tones to noise.

Monza Blitz: Fragile Flowers

The Viennese band Monza Blitz, in turn, provides the sound aesthetic for Fragile Flowers, a live projection of Super8 footage from France (1983) that is gradually decomposed by mold spores. The beauty of the fragility of finitude becomes a Super16 flicker animation at five frames per second. On the sound level, drums, self-built electronics, electric guitar and field recordings merge into a real-time composition of fragile sound research and experimental club music of the future.
