Young Cinema X WIENXTRA Medienzentrum

The WIENXTRA-Medienzentrum and VIENNA SHORTS are launching a new two-part collaboration in 2026: a Pitch Lab for young film talents and the co-curation of the Coming Of Shorts program together with young filmmakers and curators.

Pitch Lab

The Pitch Lab on May 27 and 28 invites young filmmakers aged 16 to 22, at any stage of the creative process, to present their projects. Through dialogue with other participants and feedback from experienced filmmakers, young talent and personal development are fostered.

In addition, all Pitch Lab participants receive free accreditation for VIENNA SHORTS (May 26–31, 2026). Free admission to the festival’s film programs and selected industry events is included—a perfect opportunity to experience the festival atmosphere and make meaningful industry connections.

Coming Of Shorts

As part of Young Cinema, we are curating this year’s Coming Of Shorts program for young people together with Laura Sole Hanser, Fanny Marie Berghofer, Tilo Schott and Eva Bauer. All four either make films themselves and/or have been actively involved in the WIENXTRA Video & Film Days.
