Focus
The festival's annual thematic focus
Since 2010, we have dedicated a central Focus each year to a carefully selected theme, which is reflected in several curated film and supporting programs. These themes can be aesthetic, political, or social in nature and are also expressed through the festival’s specially chosen slogan and visual design.
Since 2013 (with the exception of the pandemic years), the Focus has also been accompanied by international collaborations: the so-called Triangle Program. Each year, two festivals are invited to explore the thematic focus with us, culminating in three film programs that are presented at all three festivals.

MOVE CLOSER: RADICAL INTIMACY
Based on Sophie K. Rosa's book Radical Intimacy, the theme of the 22nd festival edition is Move Closer! Radical Intimacy. Intimacy is understood here as a political space — with relationships and solidarity seen as acts of resistance. How can we radically rethink normative constructs in sexuality, romantic relationships, and friendships? How do we experience intimacy in the digital space? What does self-care mean, and how can we increasingly center the private sphere as a political refuge? Five programs explore these questions through complex and radical responses.
