Gala Hernández López (ES) is an artist, filmmaker, and researcher. Her work examines virtual narratives, technological desires, and techno-utopian ideologies as collective fictions that shape our thinking. Her film La Mécanique des fluides was awarded the César for Best Documentary Short Film in 2024. She will be Artist-in-Residence in May in cooperation with the MQ in Vienna and will create this year’s trailer. Film director Nicolas Brault (CA), who will also be part of this year’s AA jury, will begin his residency with us in June. He is an animation filmmaker and Director of the École d’art at Université Laval in Québec, Canada. Since 2012, he has been developing a series of short, non-narrative films centered on the human body and is currently working on a new series focused on the storm. His films are screened worldwide and they have received awards in Annecy, at Animafest Zagreb, and at Vienna Shorts, among others. Here you can get to know our artists!
