Award-winning director Hilke Rönnfeldt is this year’s Artist-in-Residence at VIENNA SHORTS and is also responsible for our 2025 festival trailer. With her precise eye, narrative strength, and a deep sensitivity for what remains unspoken, she has powerfully translated our annual theme Radical Intimacy into moving images. The trailer is now showing in cinemas across Vienna. During the festival itself, four of her works will be screened in the cinema.

“Radical Intimacy—the annual topic sparked a firework in my mind,” says Rönnfeldt about her approach. “I think about what it can already do on a microscopic level and what power it holds right before our very naked eyes. How do we acknowledge and harness it? Has it to cost us? Are we ready—or afraid?” We’re thrilled to collaborate with one of the most exciting voices in European short film.
