THE WINNERS OF THE AUSTRIAN COMPETITION

In the Austria Competition, Emma Hütt and Tina Emy Muffler won the Austrian Short Film Prize with Bleifrei 95, a road movie roller coaster ride full of romantic and erotic escapades. "The film's anarchic-feminist thrust delivers a powerful political statement that simultaneously places us in a state of emancipation and fear, without losing sight of the personal traits of the main characters," the jury announced. Hütt and Muffler thereby qualify for the Oscars in the Live Action category and the European Film Award.

Karolina Malwina Gruschka's this, too, will be liquid received the Jury Prize as Best Newcomer for its narrative journey from an anxiety-ridden childhood encounter with water to universally unsettling statistics about melting glaciers. The narration adopts the voice of water, connecting all threatened living beings on our planet.

Found&Lost
by Reza Rasouli received an Honorable Mention for its dry-witted moral fable about a Syrian father in Vienna.

Der ORF Wissen Audience Award went to All Buildings Are Beautiful by Christoph Schwarz.
