SHORT FILM CONFERENCE

The Short Film Conference (SFC) is a non-profit association established in 1970 to network and strengthen the international short film community. The SFC consists of over 100 members from 40 countries, including festivals, distributors, institutions, film markets, media, VOD platforms and agencies. It is headquartered in Leuven, Belgium.

The SFC lobbies for short films and their creators, researches gender equality in the short film scene, and organizes industry events. The annual Short Film Conference takes place during and in close coordination with the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

As part of its criteria for new members, the Short Film Conference defines a short film festival “as a cultural event that considers cinema as an art form and a film or video as a work of art.” Its main mission, it says, is “to present the state of the art in contemporary short film production as well as tendencies that reflect current cultural, aesthetic, social and institutional trends.”
