Alpbach stipend goes to Scotland

The first VIS Art Scholars of the European Forum Alpbach are the two Scottish filmmakers Ross Hogg and Duncan Cowles, who were already our artists-in-residence last year.

The cooperation with the European Forum Alpbach took place for the first time this year: All VIS 2018 filmmakers under 30 years of age were able to apply for two scholarship positions, offering the opportunity to participate in seminars, breakout sessions and plenary debates. Finally, the documentary filmmaker Duncan Cowles and animated filmmaker Ross Hogg were chosen, filmmakers who in the past have already left a lasting impression as a duo at the festival. The prize is worth up to 3,000 euros. More than 700 young scholarship holders from around 80 countries come to Alpbach every year.
