An old movie-business truism: Comedies are extremely hard to make and have an even more difficult standing. On one hand, it has to do with the fact that a successful production already depends on several crucial factors: timing, script, punchlines, etc. On the other hand, it demands a lot from the audience — after all, people have different senses of humor, and therefore, a comedy might not easily win over the majority in a film festival’s preselection process. That’s why this year, for the first time ever, we’ve given two programmers from different contexts the opportunity to present their own personal favorites — thus creating a jointly selected form of comedy: the Odd Couples.
