We understand ourselves as a politically thinking and acting institution. Accordingly, we see a clear responsibility to ensure equal and fair treatment of all employees, filmmakers, cooperation and business partners. We reject any form of discrimination, violence, intimidation and bullying and see ourselves as an inclusive festival that strives for diversity, equality and accessibility for people with and without disabilities.
We are committed to creating a gender-equal and diverse program, thereby empowering female filmmakers and underrepresented social groups in the film industry. The fundamental political stance of VIENNA SHORTS is therefore also reflected in the selected films. The festival's program team currently consists of 17 people––65 percent of whom are women, and half of whom were not born in Austria. For the festival, we accept submissions from all countries; diversity is key throughout our whole selection process.
