FILMS directed by MICHAELA SCHWENTNER

des souvenirs vagues

Austria 2009, 8 min, BetaSP
director, concept: Michaela Schwentner
The shoes and blue headscarf stand out from the diffuse white space (of thought) in which Michaela Schwentner moves around in a half dancing, half haphazard manner. They are vague memories that the protagonist filters out of the female voices from various films, personal moments, then again staged sequences – like a choreography of hazy memories.

compostition set // image transformed // mozart moved

Austria 2006, 1 min, language: without dialogue
director: Michaela Schwentner
The idea was to transform a picture of Mozart on the basis of a "new" composition arranged with the musical dice game, sound-controlled manipulation and also a dismantling of the common clean and kitschy Mozart image (in other words the composer’s reputation).

transistor

Austria 2000, 6 min
director, screenplay: Michaela Schwentner | music: Radian
A video clip as a structural model: Michaela Schwentner¹s video to "transistor" by the Viennese music trio Radian was in a sense composed in reverse, progressing from illustrated music to an abstract blueprint which could have been used for both media. (Text: Christian Höller)
