Danse macabre

Canada 2009, 9 min, 35 mm
Director/Cinematographer/Editing: Pedro Pires | Screenwriter: Robert Lepage | Producer: Chatherine Chagnon | Music: Maria Callas | Cast: AnneBruce Falconer
A gripping composition of aesthetic pictures and morbid bodily elegance which elevates the art of dance films into new spheres. From the close of one woman’s life to the burning of her corpse we follow the macabre ballet of the dead with bated breath. And instead of using the music of Camille Saint Saëns, Pedro Pires opts for Maria Callas’ “Casta Diva”.
