* 1980 in Gmunden.
Markus Oberndorfer studied at the School for Artistic Photography Vienna (Friedl Kubelka) in 2002/2003 and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (Matthias Hermann and Eva Schlegel) from 2003 to 2008. There he was study assistant since 2007, too.

Markus Oberndorfer strings snapshots together in his irregular “Untitled_in_Case”-series; pictures from a camera that, in fast succession, make a small section of the town almost tangible. This time we follow the documentary observations in the bed of the Wien-river – and encounter contemporaries who are eager to create.

Unremittingly the waves swallow up the bunkers on the Atlantic coast, just to release them again the next instant. A rhythmic photo-film that examines ruins and their disappearance. And a cycle which will probably not come to an end until it reaches the Omega Point.
