Michaela Mandel learned stage design in Salzburg and Wien. Then she worked as a scene painter for the Salzburg Festival. Beginning in 1996, she worked as a costume designer and stage designer in Berlin, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, at the Landestheater Linz, at the Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen, at the Theater Phönix in Linz, at the Volksoper Wien and other theatres as wells as for numerous off productions and festivals. Since 2000, Michaela Mandel has worked as a freelance artist. Sie studied experimental design at the University of Arts in Linz (since 2003) and at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (since 2006).
