Director/Screenwriter/Cinematographer: Max Hattler | Producer: Nicolas Schmerkin | Editors: Max Hattler, Tony Fish | Music: Eclectic
Max Hattler is always on the go. From performances and classic animations to music videos he scores new coups in the shortest space of time. This one, an abstract musical of toy soldiers, is full of black humour, deployment and the absurdity of media, war and sovereignty. “Ironising” by aestheticising, this is a direct hit.

Basement Jaxx: Where's Your Head At

UK/Germany 2009, 6 min, HD
Director/Producer/Screenplay/Editor: Max Hattler | Original music: Basement Jaxx
A pattern of commensurate squares which are illuminated or animated according to the beats. The mostly two-dimensional optics make for a typical 80s-look, that is further enhanced by analogies to early computer games. “Where’s your head at?!“

Aanaatt

UK/Germany/Japan 2008, 5 min, HD
Director/Screenwriter/Cinematographer/Editing: Max Hattler | Production: Max Hattler, WK Tokyo Lab
Reflections, displacements, projections: the second contribution to the competition by media and AV-artist Max Hattler is a delightful comedy of errors situated somewhere between abstraction and realism, between constructivist design and the manual-analogue creation of space. A retro-futuristic work of art, firmly grounded by the music of Japanese electronic Jemapur.
