Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival

The Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival was created in 1994, by the Clóvis Salgado Foundation/ Government of the State of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. It came on the art scene of the city with the goal of providing the public access to a format not so disseminated, but recognized by its creative, technical and formal potential. The twelve editions that happened since then, tried to improve the work of its main headquarters, Cine Humberto Mauro, an art cinema widely recognized for the quality of its programming.

Known for conciliating in instigating manners, in its programs, films with varied artistic aspirations, the festival has always tried to regulate itself by the quality, rigor and innovative formats of the films presented, in detriment of previous views of any nature, being them regional, thematic or ideological. Its main objectives are to disseminate the Brazilian and international production of short films and provide reflection and discussion about the screened films, contributing to the formation of public and for the exchange of Belo Horizonte with directors, curators and critics from all over the world. The Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival is guided by the rigor of his artistic choices, working to enhance the short film as one of the most free, inventive and exciting of the audiovisual creations.
