The ursula blickle videoarchiv was opened in March 2007 and is a co-operational project of the Ursula Blickle Stiftung (Germany), the University of Applied Arts (Vienna) and the Kunsthalle Wien. Open to the public free of charge, it doesn’t merely afford interested visitors easy access to video art, but also provides ample research facilities for students, art historians and curators. The archive, which was conceived as a digital media centre and place for academic, scientific and curatorial practice, offers competent information on the newest trends in the art of videos. The main focus is on current Austrian art from the mid 1990s to today. About 1.500 Austrian works of art by approximately 400 artists offer a representative overview of the current state of video art in Austria. Altogether the archive possesses more than 2.600 works by about 900 artists.
