Since its establishment in 1985, ASIFA Austria has devoted itself to supporting and making the art of animation known in Austria in the most diverse ways. Thereby one of the most important fields of work is research and publication; here several projects, mostly under the direction of Thomas Renoldner, have valuably contributed to the preservation of film materials and the salvation of knowledge of this considerable area of Austrian film art.
The book “Die Kunst des Einzelbilds – Animation in Österreich von 1832 bis heute“ (editors: Christian Dewald, Sabine Groschup, Mara Mattuschka, Thomas Renoldner) published in January 2010 by ASIFA Austria and the Filmarchiv Austria, assembles numerous essays on various topics by renowned authors. In his lecture Thomas Renoldner will concentrate on his own essays, relay the most important basic ideas, convey background information and present and review a number of film examples, while cordially inviting you to an animated discussion.
