Festival Programme VIS Vienna Independent Shorts 2010

International Competition - Fiction and Documentary

33 outstanding short films from 16 countries in five programmes: such is the International Competition for short feature and documentary films (Fiction and Documentary) of VIS Vienna Independent Shorts 2010. In 2010 the festival proves again what fascinating results the work in the sector of short feature and documentary films can bring.

International Competition - Animation Avantgarde

Animation Avantgarde is the new part of the international competition which presents animation, experimental films, digital media and all manner of hybrid forms of these divisions of artistic audio-visual art. One of the selection‘s central concerns is aimed at highlighting the most innovative works from the international production scene.

Austrian Competition

The Austrian short film scene has been of constant importance in the international festival landscape for decades. Distinctive character and stylistic multiplicity are therefore also to be found in the national competition of VIS 2010. 26 films will compete in the three programmes of this inaugural competition.

Tributes

With her compositions of images Miranda Pennell, doesn’t merely create a dance in pictures, but also dance with pictures.
Thomas Draschan creates rhythm. A rhythm that is planned and gauged down to the smallest detail. Draschan is a collector and creator thrown into one.

Film – Dance – Rhythm

In this year’s festival-focus VIS is interested in the translation of movement and choreography in films, the fusion of pictures and sound and the synchronised processes on and off-screen. The festival team has put together ten programmes of award winning films and rarities worth seeing – thereby enabling an entertaining, colourful and pleasurable voyage of discovery through the world of dance films, music videos and rhythmic cinema.

Special Programmes
