Jury 2009

The members of the jury of the international competition of VIS 2009.

 

Marco Antoniazzi

Marco Antoniazzi is a director and filmmaker who studied at the Zelig-School for Television and Film in Bolzano as well as at the Vienna Film Academy under Peter Patzak (direction). His works include numerous short films – wellen (2007, experimental movie), VERKAUFEN VERKAUFEN (2006, documentary), Das Kettenkarussell (2004, winner of the Cinestyria youth film prize) and für einen moment (2001). His first feature film Kleine Fische opened the 2009 Diagonale Film Festival in Graz and won the audience award.

 

Alexandra Gramatke

Alexandra Gramatke is the manager of KurzFilmAgentur Hamburg (since 2008). Following her studies in Slavonic linguistics and German literature, she worked as a freelance translator in literary and documentary films. Since 1994 she has been a member of thede, a Hamburg group of documentary filmmakers. Here she produced own films like Dynamo Kiew. Legende einer Fußballmannschaft (2000), while also working as an associate producer, editor and curator.

 

Gabriele Mathes

Gabriele Mathes is a filmmaker and script writer. In 2006 she took over the project management of the short film festival wienerviedeoundfilmtage for young filmmakers. She studied directing at Vienna’s University for Music and Drama (Film and Television with Axel Corti and Peter Patzak). The found-footage-film Eine Million Kredit ist ganz normal, sagt mein Großvater received the 2006 Diagonale prize for innovative cinema as well as the CPH:DOX New Vision Award for Short films (Copenhagen).

 

Frank Moens

Frank Moens is the programme director (since 2004) of the non-profit film organisation Fonk vzw in Belgium that organises the International Short Film Festival Leuven as well as the Documentary Film Festival Docville. The Leuven festival publishes the short film DVD label Selected Shorts. Moens studied Media Studies at Brussels University and in 1999 founded the online film-magazine kutsite.com. In 2005 he launched kortfilm.be, one of the first websites to concentrate exclusively on short films.

 

Christian Schulte

Christian Schulte is a professor at the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media studies at Vienna’s University. He has taught at the universities of Osnabrück, Bremen, Berlin (FU) and Potsdam, has worked as a freelance journalist for the press and radio and as an editor at the DCTP/development company for Television and as Media scholar at the Centre for Art and Media (ZKM), Karlsruhe. He has also published books on Walter Benjamin, Alexander Kluge and Heiner Müller.
