Pierre Hébert
* 1944 in Montreal.
Pierre Hébert wird oft in einem Atemzug mit Vorreitern wie Norman McLaren, Len Lye oder Stan Brakhage genannt. Berühmter ist Hébert aber fast für seine Live-Animations-Performances, die dem langjährigen NFB-Mitarbeiter und ehemaligem Leiter der Cinémathêque québecoise weltweit höchste Anerkennung eingebracht haben. Im Verlauf seiner Karriere vielfach ausgezeichnet, erhielt Hébert 2004 in Quebec auch den renommierten Albert Tessier Award für sein Lebenswerk.

Als optische Variationen mit 24 Bildern beschreibt sein eindrucksvolles Frühwerk. Die 24 Bilder werden in dem handgemachten Scratch-Film immer wieder neu arrangiert und flickern in allen möglichen Kombinationen über die Leinwand. Das Ergebnis ist ein wechselndes Muster von Ton und Bild, das einen überwältigenden Rhythmus für Augen und Ohren entwickelt.
