Hauptpreis – Internationaler Wettbewerb
Der von der Stadt Wien mit 2.000 Euro dotierte Hauptpreis von VIS wurde von einer fünfköpfigen Jury an den Regisseur des besten Films des Internationalen Wettbewerbs vergeben. Die Mitglieder der internationalen Jury waren Marco Antoniazzi (I/A), Alexandra Gramatke (D), Gabriele Mathes (A), Frank Moens (B) und Christian Schulte (D/A). Die Trophäe "Goldene Shorts" wurde wie in den vergangenen Jahren von gabarage upcycling design gestaltet.

Begründung der Jury:
"The film depicts the threatening atmosphere within a family situation which is hinted at by subtle innovative use of cinematographic techniques. The constantly changing camera point of view remains with the characters, thus  involving us, as spectators, and drawing us into a hidden drama. The jury appreciates the courage of the director to deal with the subject beyond familiar ways of storytelling."

LOBENDE ERWÄHNUNG

Josh von Govinda van Maele (Frankreich/Luxemburg)

Begründung der Jury:
"In 15 minutes the film manages to explain backgrounds, pasts and futures of the characters without explicitly mentioning them. In a situation without any perspective of a better tomorrow the use of humor to sketch a racist atmosphere is a seldom seen accomplishment. The perfect directing and great performances by the teenage actors serves as the cherry on top of this great short film."

Told You So von Cecilia Lundqvist (Schweden)

Begründung der Jury:
"The precision and ingenuity of this 2-minute animation impressed the judges. The film cuts right to the chase of rigid communication patterns from 1000 years of patriarchy in laconic brevity."

Dieser Sachpreis im Wert von 500 Euro wurde den RegisseurInnen jenes Films zugesprochen, der von allen sechs Wettbewerbs-Programmen prozentuell am meisten Stimmen erhielt. Gestiftet von Hoanzl.

Manon sur le bitume von Elizabeth Marre und Olivier Pont (Frankreich)

Publikumspreis – Österreich-Panorama
Dieser Sachpreis im Wert von 1.000 Euro ging an die Regisseurin jenes Films, der von allen drei Programmen im Österreich-Panorama prozentuell am meisten Stimmen erhält. Gestiftet von ray Filmmagazin.

Angelica Fuentes, The Schindler House von Sasha Pirker (Österreich)

Der mit 500 Euro dotierte Preis ging auch 2009 an einen jungen Filmemacher eines künstlerischen experimentellen Kurz- oder Animationsfilms aus Österreich. Gestiftet von Hubert Sielecki.

Walzerkönig von Adnan Popović (Österreich)

Begründung:
"This animated music video stands out owing to its ingenuity and creative freshness. The musical structures make for many surprising twists in the visual composition. The elaborately animated and imaginative post-it-art, the lip-synching singer sketched on a post-it-pad, the depiction of text incorporated into the pictures, as well as the audio level, by use of multicoloured paper clips, or numbers of a calculator – and much more – make this animation film a congenial work of art."

Publikumspreis – Liegekino
Dieser Sachpreis im Wert von 300 Euro war für die Regisseure jenes Film gedacht, der im Liegekino am meisten Stimmen auf sich vereinte. Gestiftet von Hoanzl.

Der Conny ihr Pony von Robert Pohle und Martin Hentze (Deutschland)

Publikumspreis – Programm Très chic
Dieser undotierte Preis bestand aus einer Trophäe von gabarage upcycling design für den Regisseur jenes Films, der für die Zuschauer den abgründigsten Humor bewies.
